The Hong Kong Government has this generous scheme to support PhD student from overseas and China mainland to pursue their PhD research in Hong Kong.

The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (~US$2,600), and conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (~US$1,300) per year for the awardees for a maximum of three years. In addition, Fellowship recipients at CityU will be awarded the“Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies Entrance Scholarship” (HK$69,096; ~USD8,858), which covers students' tuition and on-campus hostel accommodation fees in their first year of research studies.

Hence, for the awardee, the fellowship plus additional subsidy virtually cover almost all expenses during the study.

Besides, my Department (Applied Social Sciences) will offer additional sponsorship if the students can produce quality publication.

The Scheme is inviting applications for 2016 entryfrom 1 September – 1 December 2015 (by noon Hong Kong Time). The key milestones and application procedures are as follows:
